Introduction
The Jewish Community Foundation provides college scholarships funded by generous donors who create named scholarship funds. While each donor may set different eligibility preferences, all scholarships share the common purpose of helping motivated students pursue higher education.

Overview of Funding
The Foundation distributes nearly $100,000 in college scholarships each year. Awards are intended for students with strong promise but limited financial means, and can be used toward college or graduate-level costs including tuition, fees, room, and board. Individual awards typically range from $1,000 to $3,000.

Who May Apply (Eligibility)
Before applying, confirm you meet the general eligibility criteria below:
- Most scholarship funds require applicants to be Jewish. In these cases, eligibility is met if at least one parent is Jewish and the applicant self-identifies as Jewish, or if the applicant has completed a formal conversion to Judaism.
- Be accepted to or currently enrolled at an accredited institution of higher learning in the United States (or at an institution affiliated with a U.S. school).
- Be a current resident of the Greater Hartford, Connecticut area.
- Be a citizen of the United States.

Note: Some individual funds have additional requirements (for example, specific fields of study, community service, or other qualifications). The Foundation will evaluate your single application against the particular criteria of available scholarships and match you to those for which you qualify.

Special Fund Exceptions
- The Anne E. Wall Scholarship: open to all Bloomfield, CT residents regardless of religious affiliation, provided there is demonstrated financial need.
- The June Miller Rosenblatt Scholarship: open to all residents of Greater Hartford regardless of religious affiliation, with demonstrated financial need and pursuing a major that leads to a career in education.

How to Apply
Submit one application to be considered for all Foundation scholarships. Complete the online college scholarship application form. Incomplete submissions may not be reviewed. Previous scholarship recipients are welcome to reapply but are not guaranteed additional awards. For questions, contact grants@jcfhartford.org.

Selection, Confidentiality, and Notification
Applications are reviewed anonymously by the Scholarship Committee, which evaluates each applicant against the funds for which they are eligible. All award decisions are confidential; a recipient’s name will not be shared without that person’s explicit permission. Applicants are typically notified of awards or denials in late June.

Recipient Responsibilities
Unless prevented by illness or another emergency, scholarship recipients are expected to complete the academic year for which the scholarship was granted. If a recipient does not fulfill that year of study, the Foundation may require reimbursement of the scholarship funds paid on the student’s behalf. Recipients are also requested to send a letter of thanks to the donor(s) who made the award possible.
