PHCC Educational Foundation Scholarships

Scholarship Sponsored by PHCC Educational Foundation

Value: $2,500.00
Awards Available: 65
Deadline : May 01, 2026

Introduction
The PHCC Educational Foundation helps remove barriers for qualified individuals entering the plumbing, heating and cooling trades. Each year the Foundation, together with industry sponsors, provides targeted financial support to students pursuing careers in the p-h-c fields.

Who should apply
- Plumbing and HVAC apprentices and students in trade schools.
- College students enrolled in majors that directly relate to the plumbing‑heating‑cooling industry.

Important note for contractors
Contractors are encouraged to have their apprentices submit applications. Even if the employer already covers apprenticeship training costs, a scholarship can offset expenses and recognize the apprentice’s achievement. Please restrict submissions to no more than four applicants per company and nominate your strongest candidates.

How to apply (for apprentices/technicians employed by PHCC members)
Apprentices or technicians who work for a PHCC member contractor must:
1. Submit the online application form.
2. Upload an employer recommendation letter from the PHCC contractor (business owner or manager). Sample recommendation letters are available online to help expedite this step.
3. Respond to the five online background/interests questions.
4. (Optional) Upload academic transcripts and a recommendation from the apprentice program instructor.

Eligibility requirements
- Applicants must be legal residents of the United States (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, etc.).
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in one of the following:
- A PHCC‑approved plumbing or HVACR apprenticeship program or the Foundation’s Fast Track to Service & Repair online course. Apprentices/technicians in this category must also be employed full‑time by a licensed plumbing or HVAC contractor who is a member of the Plumbing‑Heating‑Cooling Contractors — National Association. Approved fields: plumbing or HVACR installation, service, and repair.
- A full‑time certificate or degree program at an accredited two‑year community college, technical college, or trade school, with a major directly related to the p‑h‑c profession. Approved majors include: business management; mechanical CAD design; construction management with a concentration in mechanical construction; and plumbing or HVACR installation, service and repair.
- A full‑time bachelor’s degree program at an accredited four‑year college or university, with a major directly related to the p‑h‑c profession. Approved majors include: business management; construction management specializing in mechanical construction; and mechanical engineering.
- No more than four employees from a single employer may receive awards in any one year.

Canadian applicants
Canadian citizens who are enrolled in a PHCC‑approved plumbing or HVACR apprenticeship program are eligible, provided they are employed full‑time by a licensed plumbing or HVAC contractor who is a member of PHCC‑National. Approved areas of study are plumbing or HVACR installation, service, and repair.

Application timeline
- Application window: January through May 1 (all materials must be submitted by May 1).
- Review process: Applications are evaluated by a contractors’ committee during the summer.
- Winners selected: late July.
- Notifications: All applicants will be informed of their status in August.

Additional notes
1. Scholarships are intended to support students majoring in fields directly connected to the p‑h‑c industry. If a school uses a different program name for an approved major, applicants should provide official school documentation (program description) that clarifies the course of study.
2. Full‑time student status is defined as enrollment in at least 12 semester credit hours or the minimum credit load required by the student’s institution to qualify as full‑time, whichever is greater.
3. PHCC of Massachusetts Auxiliary award: To be considered for this specific scholarship, applicants must be Massachusetts residents who are attending or plan to attend a four‑year college. This particular award does not limit the field of study.
