Introduction Thanks to the generosity of alumni brothers and other donors, the Triangle Education Foundation (TEF) awards scholarships each year to active members of Triangle Fraternity who demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership within their chapter, and meaningful campus and community involvement. Each year more than 20 scholarships are distributed to Triangles who will be undergraduates in the academic year following the award. General Eligibility Criteria Although individual scholarships may include additional donor-specified conditions, all applicants must meet these baseline requirements: - Be an active Triangle Fraternity member enrolled in a degree program and be an initiated undergraduate in the school year after applying. - Have completed at least two full academic years of collegiate study by the time the award is made (awards are typically disbursed the summer after applications). - Hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 at the time of application, except where a lower minimum is specified for particular scholarships. - Demonstrate financial need and show that, within the limits of their program of study, they are personally contributing toward the cost of their education. - Exhibit appropriate social skills through active participation in their Triangle chapter, on campus, and in the surrounding community. Available Undergraduate Scholarships The James Rust Scholarship - One annual award of $6,500. - Granted based on a combination of financial need, academic achievement, and involvement in Triangle and campus activities. When applicants are otherwise equal, preference is given to students in core engineering disciplines or the "hard" sciences. The Mortin Scholarship - Awarded annually on the basis of financial need, scholastic record, and engagement in chapter and campus activities. The Sevcik Scholarship - One annual award driven primarily by demonstrated need, with preference for students at The Ohio State University and for engineering or minority students. The Kapadia Scholarship - Available to undergraduate or graduate Triangles in good standing. - Preference given to engineering majors, non-U.S. citizens, members of the Zoroastrian faith, and students at Michigan State University. - Number and amounts of awards are set by the selection committee; individual awards typically range from $1,500 to $5,000. The Peter and Barbara Bye Scholarship - Awarded yearly based on financial need and academic performance (minimum GPA 2.7/4.0). - All else equal, preference is given to applicants from the Cornell University Triangle chapter (should it be recolonized). Pierce E. Healey Memorial Scholarship - Annual award based on academic standing and demonstrated participation in chapter, campus, and civic life. James Marshall (pur65) Triangle Volunteers Scholarship - Created to honor Brother Marshall’s contributions and the commitment of Triangle volunteers. - Awarded annually for a mix of need, grades, and active participation in Triangle and campus activities. Kevin Robertson (marq92) Triangle Presidents Scholarship - Established to recognize Brother Robertson and the service of Triangle chapter presidents. - Given yearly based on financial need, academic performance, and involvement in chapter and campus activities. The Foglesong Family Minority Student Scholarship - Endowed by the Foglesong family to promote diversity in engineering, architecture, and science. - Eligible applicants are Triangles from underrepresented populations majoring in engineering, architecture, or science. - Requires demonstrated academic success (minimum GPA 2.7/4.0), a record of chapter and community service, and financial need. Jeffrey D. McClelland (nu77) Memorial Scholarship - Funded by Jeff McClelland’s family to honor his appreciation for Triangle Fraternity. - One annual award to a Triangle who demonstrates financial need, social skills, and a minimum GPA of 2.7/4.0. Memorial Scholarship - Established by Jeff’s family (same intent as above). - Makes one yearly award to a Triangle demonstrating financial need, social skills, and at least a 2.7/4.0 GPA. The Purdue Class of 1958 Scholarship - One annual award based primarily on financial need and evidence of positive social skills, with preference for a Purdue student. Louise & Bill Schmitt (pur61) Scholarship - Awarded annually to a student with strong community involvement. - Minimum GPA 2.7/4.0. - Preference to members of the Purdue chapter and to Chemical Engineering majors. The John Sonnenburg Scholarship - Endowed by John Sonnenburg (pur73). - Annual award focused on financial need for a qualified Triangle field of study. - Preference is given to Purdue chapter members but the scholarship is open to all. - Minimum GPA 2.7/4.0. The Edward and Isabell Larson Memorial Fellowship for Graduate Study - One annual fellowship for a Triangle pursuing graduate study (master’s or doctoral) in engineering. Notes - Some scholarships specify lower minimum GPAs (commonly 2.7/4.0) than the general 3.0 requirement; applicants should review individual scholarship criteria carefully. - Award sizes and the number of recipients vary by scholarship and are determined by donor endowments or the selection committee.
