Since 1984, Mosaic Life Care Foundation has awarded approximately 2,500 academic scholarships, distributing more than $2 million in support of students and learners.

General eligibility note for health care awards
- Scholarships listed under “Healthcare Scholarships” require that applicants be accepted into an accredited health care or nursing program before submitting an application.

Available scholarships and deadlines

Lowell C. Kruse Healthy Choices. Healthy Lives. Scholarship
- Purpose: Provides financial support to a first-year, full-time graduate student whose studies focus on improving quality of life for residents within Mosaic Life Care’s service area. Eligible fields include, but are not limited to: Health Care Administration, Early Childhood Development, Not‑For‑Profit Management, and Educational Leadership.
- Funded by: Mosaic Life Care; administered by Mosaic Life Care Foundation.
- Application deadline: June 15

Patrick L. Newman Mic-O-Say Scholarship
- Purpose: Offers educational assistance to members of the Tribe of Mic‑O‑Say in honor of Patrick L. Newman’s longtime involvement with Boy Scouts.
- Eligibility: Open only to members of the Pony Express Council Tribe of Mic‑O‑Say; applicants need not reside in a particular geographic area.
- Application deadline: Oct. 15

(e2) education emPowers Scholarships
- Purpose: Established by Mosaic Life Care Foundation to support former participants of emPowerU programs who are continuing to post‑secondary education.
- Application deadline: March 15

Healthcare Scholarships (require program acceptance prior to applying)
- The following awards are intended for students pursuing education and training in nursing and other health care professions. Applicants must have program acceptance before applying.

Bill and Mary Russell Health Care Scholarship
- Description: Created as a tribute to the late Bill and Mary Russell by Voiture 130 of the 40 & 8 in partnership with Mosaic Life Care Foundation. Supports learners pursuing careers in nursing or other health care fields.
- Application deadline: March 15

Doris R. Hines PhD, RN, CETN Nursing Scholarship
- Description: Supports Mosaic Life Care nurses seeking education beyond the bachelor’s degree. Established in 1997 by friends and family of the late Dr. Doris R. Hines to honor her lifetime of nursing excellence.
- Application deadline: March 15

Health Care Workforce Development Scholarship (NEW)
- Award: $1,500, renewable.
- Purpose: Provides financial aid to graduating regional high school seniors who plan to enter health care fields such as nursing, respiratory therapy, medical laboratory science, surgical technology, radiologic technology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and similar programs.
- Application deadline: March 15

Mary Alice Hartigan Scholarship
- Description: Created in 1999 to honor Mary Alice Hartigan’s dedication to nursing and surgical services. Provides assistance to students in nursing and/or surgical services, with special emphasis on surgical nursing.
- Application deadline: March 15

Mary Ann Reinert Scholarship
- Description: Supports individuals pursuing health care education—particularly those focused on surgical nursing and surgical services—or professionals already working in these areas who seek to enhance their skills.
- Application deadline: March 15

Mosaic Life Care Hospice Scholarship
- Description: Provides support for students preparing for careers that enhance care for people nearing the end of life, helping them develop the knowledge and skills needed for quality hospice and end‑of‑life care.
- Application deadline: March 15

Velma Flies Anderson Scholarship
- Eligibility: Senior‑level students enrolled in an accredited RN program.
- Focus: Recognizes academic and clinical excellence. Established by Velma Flies Anderson, a 1941 graduate of the Missouri Methodist Hospital School of Nursing.
- Application deadline: March 15
