The Richard E. & Nancy P. Marriott Foundation Scholarship is designed to assist deserving students in covering the expenses associated with pursuing an undergraduate degree. The selection of scholars is based on their academic prowess and objectives, involvement in the community, financial necessity, recommendations, and a written essay by the student.

The scholarship will provide a minimum of $1,000 to students who are either planning to enroll or are currently enrolled in one of the specified universities. The exact amount of the award will depend on the individual's cost of attendance, financial need, and other resources available to them. The scholarships are annual grants, and students are required to reapply each year.

Eligibility for the Scholarship

• The student must be enrolled or planning to enroll within a year in one of the following universities: BYU – Idaho; BYU – Hawaii; BYU – Provo; Southern Virginia University; The University of Utah; Utah State University; Utah Valley University; or Weber State University.
• Applicants must be full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree and must have at least one year left in their program.
• The scholarship can be renewed up to three times or until the undergraduate degree is completed, whichever comes first, provided the reapplication is successful.
• The student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and adhere to the scholarship agreement.

Guidelines for Scholarship Application

• Applicants must submit a fully completed application form.
• Applicants are required to submit a typed essay of no more than 500 words, detailing a past experience that significantly influenced them.
• Applicants must provide two recommendation letters, a current academic transcript, and a copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
• Semi-finalists must be available for a phone interview.
• Incomplete applications or those that do not meet the requirements will not be considered.
• Additional information may be requested from scholarship applicants.
• At the conclusion of the scholarship review process, applicants will be notified via email about their selection status.
• A Scholarship Renewal application must be submitted annually.
