Are you heading to college and care about the future of rural communities and agriculture? Farm Credit Mid-America seeks students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, community engagement and a strong commitment to promoting agriculture. Each year the organization awards scholarships to support the next generation of farmers, rural leaders and agricultural professionals.
Program overview
- Farm Credit Mid-America Scholars: This award provides selected rising college students with $5,000 in support distributed over two years. In addition to financial assistance, Scholars take part in career development and leadership opportunities that introduce them to Farm Credit Mid-America and help them grow professional skills and connections.
- Customer Scholarship: Available for students pursuing agricultural or rural-community related careers (see eligibility below).
Who is eligible
- Farm Credit Mid-America Scholars: students majoring in agriculture.
- Customer Scholarship: students preparing for careers related to agriculture or rural communities.
- Team members and directors of Farm Credit Mid-America and their children are not eligible.
Application process and requirements
- Applications are submitted online only.
- The application typically takes about 10–30 minutes to finish and must be completed in one session.
- The Farm Credit Mid-America Scholars application requires an uploaded résumé and a letter of recommendation.
- You may apply for more than one Farm Credit Mid-America scholarship, but an individual may receive only one Farm Credit Mid-America scholarship in a single school year.
Important dates and award timeline
- The application window for the 2026 Farm Credit Mid-America Scholars scholarship has not yet opened. Further details will be announced when available.
- The 2026 Customer Scholarship application period runs from October 1, 2025 through January 15, 2026. Applicants for that scholarship will be notified of decisions in April 2026.
- All scholarship funds will be disbursed by August 2026 for the fall semester.

Scholarships are one of the ways Farm Credit Mid-America invests in agriculture’s future and helps prepare young people to lead rural communities. Over the past ten years, Farm Credit Mid-America has provided more than $2 million in financial and educational support to students pursuing careers that strengthen agriculture. Recipients come from diverse farm and community backgrounds but share a common goal: to help secure the future of agriculture and rural life.
