SAMSEF Regional Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia
Introduction
SAMSEF offers five regional scholarships to support students in Georgia who are pursuing education and careers in land surveying. When evaluating applications, preference will be given to candidates from the applicant’s home region within the state.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be residents of Georgia.
- Candidates should be working toward a career in land surveying and enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, an accredited college program acceptable to the SAMSEF trustees.
- Eligible programs include degree paths in land surveying or closely related fields that contain enough coursework to qualify the graduate to sit for the Surveyor Intern (SI) exam.
- Students at any post-secondary level are eligible, including high school seniors who will enter college as freshmen.
- Five regional scholarships are available in total, each intended for students pursuing either an associate’s or bachelor’s degree that incorporates land surveying courses.
Application materials
Applicants must provide documentation demonstrating their qualifications and merit. Typical required items include high school transcripts, college transcripts (if applicable), descriptions or examples of relevant projects, an essay, and any other supporting materials that strengthen the application.
Deadline and award timing
All annual scholarship applications must be submitted by June 30. Awards are announced in July. Applications received after June 30 will be deferred and considered in the next year’s award cycle.
Selection process
Recipients of SAMSEF’s annual scholarships are chosen each year by a panel of land surveyors affiliated with an adjoining-state land surveying society. All selections are finalized and awards made by July of each year.
Purpose
SAMSEF administers these and other scholarships to encourage and financially support students pursuing education in land surveying throughout Georgia.
