Introduction
The Welsh Pony and Cob Foundation operates solely for charitable, educational, and scientific objectives. Its purpose is to support the breeding and use of registered Welsh ponies and cobs; to offer educational and research programs for 4-H, FFA, accredited schools and institutions; to foster excellence in breeding, showing and judging; to sponsor competitions and award programs at local, regional and national levels; to assist research into equine diseases; and to encourage and reward sound horsemanship and sportsmanship.

Number, Value, and Type of Awards
Each calendar year one (1) or two (2) scholarships of $500.00 each may be awarded.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Must be either graduating from high school in the award year or currently enrolled in college or a professional program.
- Must demonstrate satisfactory academic standing.
- High school applicants: submit grades for both junior and senior years.
- Current college or graduate students: submit transcripts showing grades through the present term.
Application Materials and Selection Criteria
Recipients are chosen based on academic record and participation in school extracurriculars, community service, and equine-related activities. Applicants must submit:
- A one-page personal statement describing purpose, goals, and reasons for seeking the scholarship; include any experience with or interest in Welsh ponies or cobs.
- One letter of reference from a non-related individual.
Award Disbursement
Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the recipient.
Application Period
Applications are accepted March 1 through July 15.
